Okay, right up front I am going to admit the idea for this post came from Jim Crawford down in Atlanta in a round about way.  Jim is helping my youngest daughter buy her very first house.  They went out looking this past weekend and my daughter called to tell me all about it.  She was very excited about some of the houses she saw and then  asked, "do the sellers in your area leave the house?"  I said, "always!"

She went on to say that Jim must have said to her half a dozen times as they were driving around "these sellers need to get out of the house!" It seems almost every seller was home during the showings.

So sellers, right from a first time buyers mouth came these comments about you being in your house when she came to view them.

"I was so uncomfortable I didn't spend as much time as I wanted."

"I was afraid to open up the closet doors and cabinets with them watching."

"I didn't know what to say when they started telling me about all the wonderful things in their house that I didn't like, it was very awkward."

"I couldn't really picture myself living in the house with the whole family there."

"I felt like I couldn't ask Jim any questions or talk about the house because the people were right there."

What is the moral of the story....Sellers, if you want to sell your house price it right, make sure it is clean, make sure it is in good repair, well staged and Get the heck out of the house!!
