About Pleasant Valley

Pleasant Valley, New York, a town that sits as part of Dutchess Country, has a population of approximately 10,000 residents.  It is located northeast of the city of Poughkeepsie and along US Route 44.  The area was first settled in 1735 and then was formed as part of the town of Clinton in 1821.  It was given its agreeable name to deflect from its connection with the Henry Dodson murder case, where a town councilman was viciously killed. Little did those who named the region know that it would become just the sort of community that deserved such a peaceful title.

The addition of new homes to this area is significantly above the state average, meaning that this is a community that is steadily growing with each year.  There are many business and commercial opportunities in city centers surrounding the area, with residents commuting to New York City, which is about seventy miles away and an easy route by train.

The median age for the area is 37.4, making it the perfect communities for new and growing families to raise their families away from the danger and noise that comes with big city living.  But, with Poughkeepsie merely 7.5 miles away, you are never far away from all of the conveniences and amenities that a larger city has to offer.  There are three hospitals less than ten miles away plus an Amtrak station within Poughkeepsie.

The majority of the residents in Pleasant Valley enjoy a comfortable life.  The average income per household and the median house value are both above the state average, while the unemployment rate is significantly below.  The cost of living in this region is 143.7 to the national average of 100.
