About East Fishkill

The town of East Fishkill, New York, with a population of about 29,000 and growing, is on the southern boarder of Dutchess County on the western side of New York State.  This town has become a bedroom community for New York City in the last few decades, being only about 65 miles from the Big Apple.

The median age for the area is 36.6 years old, which is only slightly higher than the state median of 35.9 years old.  If you’re a young couple living in New York City and are looking for a peaceful and safe place to start a family, East Fishkill could be just the place for you.

Though the cost of living is quite a bit above the national average, being 136.6 compared to the average of 100, it is still significantly lower than NYC’s 177.1.  This means that if you’ve grown accustomed to cramping into a one-bedroom apartment within a five-floor walk-up, the properties you could afford in East Fishkill could look like a dream come true.

The town of East Fishkill is made up of a collection of thirteen small hamlets, giving it that perfect small town warmth.  It is also the fifth wealthiest town in New York, so you can be sure that the community hosts the best amenities and services that New York State has to offer for a town of its size.

The “community feel” created in East Fishkill is one where you will get all of the support of friendly neighbors to exciting events running within the town and excursions to other nearby attractions. Bus trips are organized into NYC for Broadway shows, professional sporting events and shopping. There are also organized outings to the nearby Mohegan Sun Casino.

There are four different school district serving the East Fishkill area, being Arlington Central, Carmel Central, Pawling Central and Wappingers Central, so if you’re the head of a family or looking to start one and are concerned about the quality of education in the area, there are several schools to choose from.

As part of the Hudson Valley, there are few places as picturesque as this region.  There are green spaces and blue waters to give you the ultimate relaxation while enjoying the sites, either as a resident or visitor to the area.  East Fishkill is even part of the Appalachian Trail, which is 2,155 miles long and goes from Maine all the way to Georgia.
